Slow Paced Omegaverse, Interesting World, Hint of Mystery

The cover blurb:
a grumpy werewolf, a wicked witch, and a dying wish

The first page:
I've never been a good witch.

Morally speaking, I am good, of course. Or I try to be most of the time. But no amount of goodness has ever been able to change the fact that despite being a Foxglove, I'm a bad witch.

Not good. Not wicked.

Just bad.

I was caught up in the storyline, but the pacing was slow. I am heartened by 'A Hexverse Novel' which implies there will be other Hexverse novels. Yaaas

The book begins with Morgan attending her grandmother‘s funeral. She is the last of her family line, an omega with little to no magical powers from a family of powerful alpha witches. Then we have Sylvan, a lone werewolf, who was the grandmother's bodyguard.

Being an omegaverse there is that insta-lust due to scent happening. There is also insta-dislike. He's hard, shes wet and the whole ugh not to that person. All of this is complicated by the reading of the will where they are tied together for 9 months.

He is bound to protect her from any harm while she has no access to her inheritance until the time is up. On the first full moon she comes across 'the darkness'. After that the story consists of facing the lunar heat/rut with brief mention of mystery. Basically, nothing really happens until 2/3 the way through the book when another mystery is thrown in. Real progress on mysteries happens in last 5th of book. Going from a slowly paced story to fast paced tension. What a whirlwind those 60ish pages were.

Despite the slow pacing Clio's utilizes a poetic turn of phrase. Her writing is really lovely.
